JPRD tells upcoming programs

Youngsters ages 2 years through fifth grade are invited to a come-and-go Halloween party Thursday, Oct. 27, from 3:45 to 5 pm at the Greene County Community Center. Fun games, prizes and treats will part of the event.

There is no charge. Pre-registration is encouraged but not mandatory.

Girls in grades PreK through 6 can start their basketball season at a camp instructed by the Greene County varsity girls basketball players and coaches. Camp dates are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 24-26, from 4 to 5 pm. Bussing from the elementary and middle school will be available Tuesday and Wednesday.

A league for girls in grades 5-6 will follow the camp, with games Saturdays Nov. 19, Dec. 3 and Dec. 10. Teams from Ogden, Glidden and Paton-Churdan will complete the league. The fee for Community Center members is $20; the fee for non-members is $25. Registration deadline is Oct. 14.

Boys will also have a pre-season camp instructed by the Greene County boys varsity basketball team and coaches. Fundamentals will be taught for boys in PreK through 6 will be held Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, Nov. 1, 3 and 4, from 5:45 to 6:45 pm at the Community Center.

Boys in grades 5-6 who participate in the camp can play league games Saturdays, Nov. 19, Dec. 3 and Dec. 10, with game times between 9 am and noon. The fee for Community Center members is $20; the fee for non-members is $25. Registration deadline is Oct. 28.

Boys in grades K-4 can play in a 3-on-3 league that will meet Saturdays, Jan. 7, 14, and 21, and Sunday, Jan. 29. The Saturday games will be from 9 to 10 am for boys in grades K-2, and from 10 to 11 am for boys in grades 3-4. The Sunday games will be at 1 and 2 pm. Instructor/coaches will be Greene County varsity boys basketball players and coaches. The cost is $10 for boys who participate in the November camp and $30 for those who don’t. A T-shirt is included.

Adults are invited to be part of the Lazy Man Triathlon. Over the course of six week, Nov. 7 to Dec. 16, triathlete will log 26.2 miles on the treadmill, cross-trainer, or walking; 112 miles on a stationary cycle; and 50,000 meters on the row machine. Registration fee is $20. All those who finish the triathlon will receive a T-shirt. The triathlon is open to Community Center members only.
